Devin LaPointe

Devin LaPointe is a former Independent Studies Student, now a Psychology Honours Student in the lab.

Biography

I grew up in rural Jacquet River on the northern shore of New Brunswick. I graduated from Dalhousie Regional High School in 2003, and shortly after from New Brunswick Community College in 2005 with a two year certificate in Network Design and Administration. I then worked for ~ 16 years in various information systems roles across different companies with the majority of my experience in the energy sector across roles in information technology, projects, and Order to Cash. My research interests include aspects of clinical and cognitive psychology, namely trauma and attention. I enjoy spending time with my partner and our four children, going to the park, getting out and active, family Minecraft, and socializing with friends.

Research

My research seeks to understand how adverse childhood experiences impact an individuals attention in tasks that simulate those one could encounter in every day life, by searching for an object in a visual scene. My research also focuses on danger cues in the environment and the psychological and physiological impacts that they have on individuals.
